The mission of Wichita Area Technical College is to provide quality higher education and leadership in work force training that supports economic development for a global economy.
A means by which WATC demonstrates that it fulfills its mission lies in its ability to establish, measure and analyze student learning outcomes. WATC assessment encompasses student learning in technical education, general education and academic success. By creating a faculty-driven process for assessing student learning, WATC provides evidence for constant monitoring and improvement of academic offerings. Program faculty create assessment matrices that provide the framework for this process. Assessment reports, which include current assessment levels and practices for each program, are provided to administration and faculty and are coordinated by the Department of Educational Research and Development and overseen by the Educational Affairs Committee.
